Ms. Ashley Nielsen

Ms. Nielsen joined the East Brunswick High School Counseling Department in 2024. Before coming to the high school, she began her career in East Brunswick Public Schools as a School Counselor at Churchill Junior High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from West Chester University and her Master’s degree in School Counseling from Rider University.

As a School Counselor, Ms. Nielsen values the opportunity to get to know each student as an individual. She understands that high school can bring excitement, uncertainty, challenges, and a lot of change. She strives to be a consistent source of support throughout all of it! Whether a student is figuring out their next steps after graduation, adjusting to high school, working through a difficult situation, or just needs someone to talk to, Ms. Nielsen believes that having a trusted adult in your corner can make a difference.

Ms. Nielsen's favorite part of being a high school counselor is getting to build meaningful relationships with her students and watching them grow over the course of their high school years. She loves getting to know her students, celebrating the good moments with them, and being there to offer support when things feel more difficult. 

Outside of school, Ms. Nielsen enjoys spending time with her friends and family, going to the beach, reading, drawing, painting, and all things related to music. She also loves spending time with her mini Goldendoodle, Winnie, who keeps life fun and entertaining. In her free time, she enjoys being creative, relaxing, and making memories with the people she loves.

Ms. Nielsen is excited to get to know her students and be part of their high school experience!
